Four options here cover departures from both Delhi and Agra, which is useful if you are midway through the Golden Triangle and want Jaipur without committing to an overnight.
From Agra it is about 240 km — roughly four hours, with Fatehpur Sikri on the road if you want it. From Delhi it is 270 km on a good expressway, roughly five hours.
What you see
Amer Fort is the reason to come. Built from 1592 above Maota Lake, a fort outside and a palace within. The Sheesh Mahal mirror chamber, where thousands of convex tiles multiply a single flame across the room. The painted Ganesh Pol gateway. The Sukh Niwas, cooled by water channels cut through marble.
Then the walled city as time allows: City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, and Jal Mahal on the lake as a view stop.
