Everything paid before you leave Delhi

05:00–06:00 — Delhi

Private car from your hotel. Early, because the expressway is empty at that hour and Gurugram is not.

09:30 — arrival and breakfast

A stop to eat before the sightseeing starts, which is worth more than it sounds after three and a half hours on the road.

10:00–12:00 — Amber Fort

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, begun in 1592 by Raja Man Singh. Two hours is enough to do it properly rather than photograph the entrance and leave.

The Ganesh Pol gateway with its painted plaster. The Sheesh Mahal, where mirror fragments set into the ceiling turned one candle into a sky. The Sukh Niwas, cooled by water channels in its walls. And the zenana, laid out so twelve queens could be visited separately and privately.
