Delhi to Jaipur by road is about five hours each way. By express train it is considerably less, and it is immune to the thing that wrecks most Delhi day trips — traffic getting out of the city. Breakfast is served on the morning service.
How the day runs
Pickup in Delhi for the morning train in standard AC class. At Jaipur a private car and your guide meet you, and the car stays with you all day.
Amer Fort first — the Sheesh Mahal mirror chamber, the painted Ganesh Pol, and the Sukh Niwas cooled by water channels cut through marble.
Then the walled city: City Palace with its two enormous silver urns, Jantar Mantar with a 27-metre sundial still accurate to two seconds, and Hawa Mahal, the 953-window facade built so royal women could watch the street unseen.
